The Diary of Project Thailand 2008: Water and Sanitation

This is a chronological review of the project that took place at Buriram. It is not an official publication and is not targeted for public marketing activities - just for internal use of the SEALnet. The diary is subjective observations of Lauris Gravelis, a team member from Latvia (Europe).

Before I start to tell everything what happened in the countryside of Thailand, I want to say GREAT THANKS to the SEALnet founders, the team leaders and active social partners for given… Continue

PP08 Day 2

(from Wordpress blog)

“The sun has set, and another day has begun…”

August 26, 2008 - No Responses

Chinh struggles as he finds a plug to connect his MacBook Pro. Christian hugs the pillows on the bed that we’ve fashioned out of a bare mattress. Angel rejoices as he finds wireless amongst a sea of useless signals surrounding our room. Here we are, in our second night in Cebu, exhausted after a day of working with high school students and being ferried around in a… Continue

The Project Philippines 2008 blog!

Hey all!

PP08 is now up and about, and we've got a blog to detail the adventures! I'll be posting the entries on Ning as well, but I created a separate site so that friends and family could see as well: http://projectphilippines08.wordpress.com

Here's Meera Subash's account of the first day:

Mahubay!

Welcome to the Philippines, SEALNet PP08!

We’re off to a great start! Today was our… Continue

SEALNet on Flickr?

I'm uploading ALL of my SEALNet PM08 photos to Flickr right now and would like to invite everyone to take a look at all of the SEALNet photos I have on Flickr (PC06, PV07, PM08). Please join the Flickr group linked below to view all of the pictures and hopefully add your own pictures to the group pool.

The Luckiest Girl

By NICHOLAS D. KRISTOF

This year's college graduates owe their success to many factors, from hectoring parents to cherished remedies for hangovers. But one of the most remarkable of the new graduates, Beatrice Biira, credits something utterly improbable: a goat.

"I am one of the luckiest girls in the world," Beatrice declared at her graduation party after earning her bachelor's degree from Connecticut College.… Continue

Welcome to the SEALNet Network

Hi there and welcome to the SEALNet Network! This site is new and we're still experimenting with the features. In a nutshell, this site will be used for 2 purposes:
  • For current year project teams to congregate online and discuss their plans for the summer projects. Join your project below, say hi to the other team members, ask your project leaders for active roles you can take on starting now or while on site. Once the projects kick off, let everyone else know what's going on through the blog.
  • For prior year project teams to stay connected. This could include what the high school mentees (who might not be in high school anymore!) have done so far with their SEALNet initiatives, where the college folks have gone after graduating, who's getting married, etc. Prior year project leaders, please share a short blurb of what the team did that summer and maybe throw up some photos.
This website is only for current and prior SEALNet members, so you're in good company here. Especially for current year project team members, please update your profile photos so your fellow team members can identify you when you arrive at your project site. In your profile, indicate for a given project if you're the project leader, a team member or a professional mentor (there shouldn't be a case where you select more than 1 option for a given project).

And as final reminder, please do not send the invite link to folks who have not been involved with SEALNet. If you have any doubts or questions about the use of this site, feel free to send a private message to Tu, Art or Kevin (Teo).
